The Summer Palace Dialogue (SPD) between Chinese and American Economists  was launched in 2008 as a joint initiative of Chinese Economists 50 Forum (CE50) and Admiral William Owens, former Vice Chairman of U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Chairman of AEA Investors ASIA, and Board Member of the Brookings Institution. The SPD was successfully held for four consecutive years, namely in August 2009, September 2010, September 2011, And April 2014.The results and recommendations of SPDs were presented to senior government officials both in China and US. SPD has developed into an influential platform for both Chinese and US top economists to share observations and insight on the two countries’ social and economic development, helped improve the in-depth understanding and interaction between the two countries.
